Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 July 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the NCT slot-notification service (the "Service") provided by NCT Alerts, established in Ireland ("we", "us", "our"), available at nct-alerts.ie.
By selecting a test centre, providing your phone number, ticking the consent box, or paying for the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service is — and is not
The Service is an independent notification tool. We monitor publicly available appointment availability at National Car Testing Service ("NCTS") test centres and send you a message when an earlier appointment appears at a centre you have selected.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NCTS, Applus+, or any government body. All official information and all bookings are handled solely on the official NCTS website at ncts.ie.
Critically, we do not book, hold, reserve, cancel, or amend any appointment on your behalf. When we notify you that a slot appears to be available, you must go to the official NCTS website and complete the booking yourself, using your own vehicle registration. We do not collect or store your vehicle registration.
3. No guarantee
Appointment availability at the NCTS changes second by second and is entirely outside our control. Accordingly, we do not guarantee that:
- any earlier appointment will become available during your subscription;
- a slot we notify you about will still be available by the time you attempt to book it (slots are frequently taken within minutes);
- notifications will be delivered instantly, or at all, given dependencies on third parties (e.g. WhatsApp/Meta, mobile networks); or
- the information shown by the NCTS is accurate or current.
The Service improves your chances of finding an earlier date; it does not promise one.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid mobile number capable of receiving WhatsApp messages. You are responsible for ensuring the number you provide is correct and belongs to you.
5. Fees, payment and duration
The Service is a one-off, fixed-fee subscription for a period of 7 days at the price shown before payment (currently €5.99). It is not a recurring subscription and does not auto-renew; you will not be charged again unless you sign up again.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. By paying, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
6. Refunds and consumer rights
Because the Service begins immediately and consists of monitoring that starts as soon as you pay, you acknowledge that, by asking us to begin at once, you may lose the standard 14-day cooling-off right of withdrawal for digital services under the EU Consumer Rights Directive as implemented in Ireland, to the extent the Service has been fully performed.
Nothing in these Terms limits your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law. If the Service fails to function as described, contact us at support@nct-alerts.ie and we will consider a refund on a case-by-case basis.
7. Notifications and consent (WhatsApp)
By providing your number and ticking the consent box, you opt in to receive from us on WhatsApp: (a) a payment/onboarding confirmation, and (b) appointment-availability alerts for your selected centre, for the duration of your subscription. You can stop all messages at any time by replying STOP. Message delivery depends on WhatsApp/Meta and your mobile network, which are outside our control.
8. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for the roadworthiness and legal status of your vehicle. Driving a vehicle with an expired NCT certificate is an offence. Having an active alert subscription, or a pending or booked appointment, is not a legal defence and does not make it lawful to drive an untested vehicle. You must not rely on the Service to remain road-legal.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by: reselling or redistributing our notifications; attempting to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service; or using it for any unlawful purpose.
10. Data protection
We handle your personal data (your phone number and selected centre) in accordance with our Privacy Policy at nct-alerts.ie/privacy and applicable data-protection law (GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018). We practise data minimisation and do not collect vehicle, identity, or payment-card data.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from: a missed or unavailable appointment; a fine, penalty, or prosecution relating to an expired NCT; a delayed, failed, or undelivered notification; or the acts or systems of the NCTS, Stripe, or WhatsApp/Meta. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the subscription giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Irish law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
12. Changes, suspension and termination
We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. Material changes will be posted at nct-alerts.ie/terms. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
